Sea Spring Resort: A Charming Hot Spring Haven in Mabini, Batangas

Share this:

A core part of childhood memories of numerous Batanguenos, Sea Spring Resort is one of the first beachfront resorts built along Mabini, Batangas.

As frequent beach-goers, we still marvel at finding new spots in Batangas, especially along the municipality of Mabini, known as one of the best diving hot spots in the country. I remember a few years ago when a fellow writer told me that aside from the beaches and dive sites, this place also has its own hot springs. This year, we finally visited this hidden gem — Sea Spring Resort, the hot spring resort beloved by its locals.

Beachfront Staycation at Sea Spring Resort

In the past, after the circumferential road in Mabini was built, resorts were established along the coastline. Sea Spring Resort is one of them, a 5-hectare beachfront property along Barangay Mainit, just next to Anilao.

One of the things that I loved about sharing our experience online about Sea Spring Resort is that a lot of Batanguenos came out and shared their early experiences here. One person said that when he was a kid, the beachfront where the resort would later be built would give off steam. Later on, the resort would open its own sauna, natural hot spring pools, and seawater pools.

Couple Room with Beachfront View

My boyfriend and I were invited to stay here for two nights. The resort has three-story buildings with over 50 rooms, all with balconies overlooking the beach. Ours was located on the ground floor, with a king-sized bed, a bathroom with hot shower, a desk station and a small dining table, refrigerator, and a balcony perfect for hanging out and watching early sunrise views.

The room was old but clean and charming. It is spacious, in case you bring a lot of luggage, and the WIFI is stable and fast, a necessity for us freelance workers. And nothing can beat the view from the balcony — especially on late afternoons and early in the morning, when the sun slowly rises over the horizon and gives a wonderful orange hue to the ocean view.

An overnight stay also comes with a breakfast set, which you can enjoy in the comfort of your room — or at the in-house restaurant, if you feel like socializing with other resort guests. Normally, I am skeptical when it comes to resort breakfasts, but Sea Spring Resort actually exceeded expectations.

Our breakfast plates were generous and came with rice, longganisa with sausage or hotdogs, egg, garlic bread, salad, and soup for the day plus a fresh fruit. The hot coffee, too, was spot on. If only every resort would serve breakfasts like this, every beach vacation would be a bliss.

Natural Pools and Other Amenities

Despite its age, this resort has a lot of features going for it — sprawling grounds and numerous cabanas where you can enjoy fresh air, three saltwater pools with slides and a court for shooting balls, a sauna, and of course its highlight — the natural hot spring pools.

Sea Spring Resort has three hot spring pools that are similar to Japanese onsens, a large one and two small dipping pools that range around 40 degrees in temperature. According to the staff, the water here comes from underground. Hence it may have that “rotten egg” smell and is laden with minerals that are good for the skin.

This is the highlight of our stay in Sea Spring Resort. In the mornings, after the pools had been refilled, we watched steam coming off the water. As it was too hot during the day, we went there at night, dipping and floating at the salty hot spring water to relax our tired muscles and muse about different things.

We also liked strolling across the grounds and looking out over the sea. It is worth nothing that swimming at the beach is not advisable as it is rocky and may have sea urchins. It also needed a bit of clean-up. Fortunately, the presence of the natural seawater pools is enough to satisfy the beach crave that we have.

Filipino and Korean Dishes

Another feature that we enjoyed is dining at their in-house restaurant, a large alfresco area with beach view that serves classic Filipino and Korean dishes. Although the food is understandably pricy, we loved everything that we tried — including kare-kare and calamares, Korean stir-fried pork, and budae jiggae.

Budae jiggae is a favorite of ours. This is a large Korean stew filled with pork, ham, dumplings, beans, tofu, and mushrooms and other veggies. We were also given a noodle pack to add — seasonings optional, unless you want it spicier. It looked a lot like the food Korean mukbangers would often do, and the pot is large enough for four people.

I’ve always enjoyed grilled liempo and seafood on beach trips, but who knew Korean dishes would also do the trick?

Sea Spring Resort Highlights

We thoroughly enjoyed our three-day stay at Sea Spring Resort. This beachfront resort in Batangas is good for families, those who are looking for natural hot spring pools and seawater pools, and those who like activities such as diving.

Why should you book at Sea Spring Resort?

  • Highlights: The highlights of our stay are the room balcony with beachfront view, the seawater pools, natural hot spring pools, and the delicious Filipino and Korean food at the restaurant. Service is also topnotch. Reception was easy to call, and staff was warm and approachable.
  • Location: Great beachfront location in Mabini, Batangas. Perfect for unwinding and relaxation.
  • Room: Room feels outdated but comfortable, with a balcony with a fantastic view. Mobile data and WIFI is consistent in the room and throughout the resort. In-room breakfast is generous and delicious.

Things to note:

  • The beachfront is not ideal for swimming. However, you can still enjoy seawater at the pools.
  • Pro Tip: Do not wear white at the hot spring pools because they will turn yellowish.

Though there are now newer resorts in the area, Sea Spring Resort’s location and facilities still make it one of the best resorts in Batangas especially for groups and families.
