Savoy Hotel Manila: Luxurious Suite Review

Share this:

We’re adding a new favorite to our go-to Metro Manila hotels — Savoy Hotel Manila. Savoy Hotel Manila is the country’s leading airport hotel, and it’s mostly known for its location — it is across NAIA International Airport Terminal 3, which makes it a busy place for travelers, as well as people like me who likes city staycations.

This is actually our second time staying at Savoy Hotel Manila. The first time was at their Essential Room. This time, we were booked in a Deck Suite. Hali and I were there to check out their offerings for the Chinese New Year, which includes a room package and lunch buffet.

The Suite

The hotel’s standard check-in time was 3PM. So, we gave our bookings and we checked in. The moment we entered the suite, we were immediately impressed. I mean, I’d already seen the suites during a previous tour of the hotel, but staying here hits different.

We were greeted with a welcome platter, which is also part of their room package offered for the Chinese New Year.

The suite is spacious. It has a living room with a large flat-screen TV, a working desk, a large queen-sized bed, and a huge bathroom with separate toilet and bath.

There are large windows where you can see the airport runway – and if you’re lucky, a plane taking off too — as well as the Makati skyline on the other side.

There were also added amenities to complete the luxurious feel — silk bathrobes and slippers, a coffee machine with 2 complimentary pads for espresso, and the usual coffee and tea making facilities.

The bathroom has the usual toiletries, with the bath essentials in huge bottles instead of tiny disposable ones. One of the programs of Savoy Hotel Manila is sustainability, and so this makes sense.

Stylish, spacious, and restful.

It was fantastic staying at the suite. Believe me, an overnight stay may really feel bitin, but it’s also a good option if you want a short place to relax while keeping close with commercial establishments and the airport too of course.

Food and Dining

Savoy Hotel Manila has a restaurant called Savoy Cafe, which offers ala carte items, breakfast buffet, and weekend buffet. There is also a lobby lounge where you can get coffee and pastries and the poolside Zabana Bar where you can enjoy various cocktails and drinks.

Breakfast buffet

Our booking comes with complimentary breakfast buffet for 2. The breakfast buffet at Savoy Hotel Manila has a limited but decent selection. There are different viands, an egg station, breads, cereals, fruits and vegetables, and even taho.

We didn’t find some of the usual breakfast staples like tapa or corned beef, but there are other dishes that I believe cater to the international crowd. And the staff refills the food quickly too.

The breakfast buffet is always busy, so if you want to eat in peace, I suggest going there as early as 6AM when it opens.

Weekend dinner buffet

During dinner, we tried their Delightful Weekend Buffet, which is offered every Friday and Saturday. In anticipation of the coming Chinese New Year, there were vibrant red and gold decorations at the buffet.

So one of the first things I noticed is the ambiance at the dinner buffet was relaxing. It wasn’t busy and we were actually one of the first ones to be seated when we arrived, but there were still plenty of servings of food and the refills are made quickly.

At one time, there was also live music performance that entertained us with light, breezy songs.

The hotel buffet has different options including a carving station with roasted beef, a pasta station, rice and different viands, siopao and other dimsum, pizza and different breads, fruits and vegetables, and different selections of drinks. Each table is also given a medium-sized seafood platter.

My favorite is the pomodoro pasta — it was delicious and the tomatoes were refreshing to the palate. I was happy to see that they also have gulaman, which you can serve yourself. We also tried samples of their cocktails, though we didn’t order full glasses because neither of us drink.

If you’re staying overnight at Savoy Hotel Manila, it’s worth trying out their weekend dinner buffet.

Other Hotel Amenities

Savoy Hotel Manila also has a swimming pool with a poolside bar, a sauna, and a fully equipped gym, all located at the second floor.

The pool here is always busy, but we lucked out on the morning of our visit because it was empty. We didn’t swim, though we spent a quiet time laying on one of the pool beds.

Anyway, aside from the hotel amenities, there are other things you can do when staying at Savoy Hotel Manila. It’s walking distance to Newport Mall, so you can shop and dine. Or, as I personally prefer, take a stroll along the streets at night and check out local restaurants and cafes.

Overall

Staying at a suite at Savoy Hotel Manila was a great experience for us. From the thoughtfully designed suite and its views to the food choices, our stay had truly been relaxing.

We stayed there days before the Chinese New Year celebration. You can also check out their special room package offer for the Chinese New Year, which includes a room with welcome platter and a lunch buffet.
