Northern Pines Inn: A Homey Baguio Airbnb for Families

Share this:

We all know that when traveling to Baguio, the best accommodations are transient houses and Airbnbs. This is especially true for groups like families, since this way you can get better value for money, not to mention extra amenities, space, and options on which area to stay at.

In a recent trip to Baguio, I found out about Northern Pines Inn. Northern Pines Inn offers two houses, a 2-bedroom house and a 4-bedroom house for small and large families.

We stayed at the 2-bedroom house and here’s my review of this Baguio Airbnb house!

Our stay at Northern Pines Inn

I stayed here with my niece and sister for 2 nights. Here are the features that we enjoyed at Northern Pines Inn.

Location

One of the best features of Northern Pines Inn is its location. It is located along Tam-Awad Road, about 15 minutes by taxi from Baguio city proper and a short walk to tourist attractions including Tam-awan Village and Igorot Stone Kingdom.

It’s also close to various restaurants and cafes, including The Farmer’s Daughter Restaurant, known for their Benguet delicacies such as pinikpikan and etag (smoked meat).

If you plan on staying long, you’ll appreciate its proximity to a wet market and a laundry shop as well.

Our experience: We liked the location because it was easy to get a taxi to get to the city proper and other interesting spots that we’ve visited during our stay, such as the BenCab Museum. We get to enjoy the cold and foggy weather of Baguio, but without the crowd and the noise.

We also liked that there are cheap eateries that we could visit from the house, including a favorite of mine – Fil-Asian Restaurant, where we had delicious meals like beef pho and buttered chicken for around P200 only.

On the other hand, if your itinerary centers around the Baguio city proper, it’s probably best for you to book a hotel in that area so you wouldn’t have to flag a taxi each time you need to venture out. We had a proper itinerary laid out, so the distance wasn’t really an issue. It was easy to get a taxi, and if you’re on a budget, a jeepney terminal is just a short walk away as well.

House amenities

Northern Pines Inn offers a fully furnished 2-bedroom house ideal for small groups (6-10 people).

The first bedroom has one large bed and two single beds, with its own bathroom with hot shower. The second bedroom has two large beds.

Like other Baguio houses, there is no airconditioning since it is already cool. But they do have electric fans, which is for people like me who couldn’t sleep well without circulating air.

The kitchen area is stocked with essential cooking equipment, plates, cups, and utensils. There is a refrigerator for keeping your take-out food and a microwave for reheating them later.

The house also has a cozy living area. The dining area features a long wooden table facing a large window, so you can enjoy colorful sunsets while sipping hot cocoa and enjoying the cool weather in Baguio. Sounds nice, right? We stayed here mostly since it was convenient for us, especially my sister who has online work to do.

A few stories up the building is a large rooftop balcony where you can hang out and enjoy mountain and city views.

Our experience: The house features a minimalist design, which is fine by me, especially with how cheap it is to book (a promo rate of P5000 for maximum of 10 people, at the time of our stay). It has everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and as I’ve said earlier, the convenient location makes it easy to explore around Baguio City.

I really enjoyed the cold weather while staying at Northern Pines Inn. As someone living in Manila, it still amazes me that there are mountain villages where you can sleep comfortably without aircon. We were all bundled underneath blankets at night with how cool it is.

My sister and niece need to regularly check online, so the dining area and stable wifi connection are a godsend.

Final verdict

Overall, I find the Northern Pines Inn great value for money, with its essential house amenities, location, and also the accommodating hosts, who regularly checked on us during our stay.

If you’re looking for a place in Baguio for a small group, where you can enjoy the weather and ambience and still be a short distance from the famous tourist spots, this is a fantastic choice.

Here are some tips for staying here:

  • Bring your own towels and toiletries.
  • Water is provided, so you can refill reusable water bottles when going out.
  • The street where this Baguio Airbnb house is located is a somewhat steep slope. It is just a short walk but can also be tiring if you’re not used to elevation. If you’re getting here by taxi, just ask the driver to let you off at the front of the house gate.
