Burgos Wind Farm: One of the Most Scenic Spots in Ilocos Norte
Today, we’ll be sharing one of our favorite tourist spots in Ilocos Norte – the Burgos Wind Farm. We visited here during a 2-day tour around Ilocos provinces. I love how beautiful the wind farm is, and every corner just begs for a photograph!
What’s more surprising is that it isn’t as talked about as the Bangui Wind Mills, also in Ilocos Norte. Well, let’s change that, shall we?

About the Burgos Wind Farm
The Burgos Wind Farm is a sustainable energy project located at Ilocos Norte. Spanning over 600 hectares of rolling hills and coastal plains across three barangays in the town of Burgos, the Burgos Wind Farm is considered the largest wind farm in the Philippines and one of the largest in Southeast Asia.
It consists of 50 gigantic Vestas turbines, each 230 feet tall with massive, 150-foot-long blades that harness the kinetic energy of the wind and convert it into electricity through a generator housed at the top of the turbine tower.
The wind farm generates about 370GWh of electricity a year, powering more than 2 million households. By doing so, it also avoids 200,000 tons of carbon emissions annually.
Aside from providing clean, sustainable energy, the wind farm also provides a source of income for landowners who lease their properties for wind turbine installations. Additionally, it attracts tourists from all over the country!
Owned by EDC, the Burgos Wind Farm was commissioned in 2014 and represents a significant milestone in the Philippines’ efforts toward a more sustainable, eco-friendly energy future.

We then waited for the sunset, and it was amazing!
