Marriott Bonvoy: Free Hotel Perks and Event Access for Travelers
If you stay at hotels even a few times a year, a loyalty program can quietly save you money. Marriott Bonvoy is one of the biggest, covering more than 10,000 properties in 148 countries. In the Philippines, you can find 13 properties under Marriott International, with more to come in the future.
I recently joined a Marriott Bonvoy media event at The Den, Manila Marriott Hotel at Newport World Resorts this October 6, 2026, and here’s what I learned about how it works.
Marriott Bonvoy Event
Marriott Bonvoy, an award-winning loyalty program designed to connect guests to more of what they love. Ching Yee Wong, Vice President of PR and Communications for Marriott International Asia Pacific (excluding China), explained how it works:
“Marriott Bonvoy is free to join, and you can join through the app or website. You can start earning points immediately when you stay at participating Marriott properties. Our members can earn through accommodation, dining, and other travel experiences. Once [they] collect enough points, they can use their points for hotel stays and other experiential side of our program.”
On moving up the tiers, she said: “In essence, the easiest way to boost your membership tier is continuity. The more you stay, dine, and experience things with Marriott Bonvoy, the more your membership benefits expand, too, and give you more of what you enjoy most.”
Melvyn Angeles, General Manager of AC Hotel by Marriott Manila, the first AC Hotel in the Philippines, pointed to its Ortigas CBD location: “Shopping, staycation, business convention, or even hosting events at the grand ballroom—you name it.”
Brian Shin, General Manager of Clark Marriott Hotel, talked about why guest care matters beyond a single stay: “When guests return because they felt cared for, that strengthens our business. When they share that experience with others, it also strengthens the Philippines’ reputation as a destination.”
Host and lifestyle content creator Nicole Andersson, who visited Fairfield by Marriott Cebu Mactan and Four Points by Sheraton Palawan Puerto Princesa this year, also shared a guest’s view. “I was amazed to see how much I’ve missed out on, from the points to the benefits that make each stay more convenient.”
The Basics

Here’s what you need to know about Marriott’s loyalty program:
- It’s free to join. There’s no membership fee, and you can sign up through the app or website.
- Points start right away. You earn them when you stay at participating properties.
- You earn from more than rooms. Dining and other experiences, such as spa visits, count too.
- You can spend points on more than free nights. There are also experiences (more on that below).
Bonus Points Promo for 2026
If you’re planning a trip soon, there’s a limited-time offer:
- Up to 4,500 bonus points for stays of more than two nights at selected properties and resorts. Valid from September to November 22, 2026.
- Redeemable for free nights, spa services, dining, and more.
- To register, go to marriottbonvoy.com/MoreAtResorts, or open your Marriott Bonvoy account and check the Promotions tab.
Make sure to register before you book so your stay counts.
Marriott Bonvoy Moments: More Than Just Hotel Perks
Besides hotel perks, you can use points to get into hard-to-book events across Asia Pacific, Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the United States, including:
- Concerts
- Culinary experiences
- Sports matches
- Other big events in far-flung destinations where tickets are tough to get
Events are offered through a website, and tickets are either fixed-price or auction-style, where you “bid” your points.
A surprise for sports fan: for the Australian Open 2027, through Tennis The World by Marriott Bonvoy (Asia Pacific, excluding China), fans got early access to ticket sales. The campaign’s face is Filipina tennis star Alex Eala.
