Voluntourism in the Philippines: A new travel trend

    January 8, 2016 /

To be honest, I have always admired volunteer workers but initially did not want to sacrifice the comforts I got used with to actually join an event. In summer last year, I’d finally experience what voluntourism in the Philippines was like. I joined an event in Jomalig Island in Quezon Province and was glad to have…

    Voluntourism Trip to Siargao Island

    November 20, 2015 /

This 2015 Cebu-Siargao trip is organized by Alon ng Pag-asa, a small group of travelers promoting voluntourism in the Philippines. We planned this trip as requested and supervised by a fellow volunteer, Kuya…

    Voluntourism Trip to Sorsogon

    July 15, 2015 /

I have a confession to make: I didn’t have high expectations about Sorsogon because I don’t hear about it a lot. But what do you know? Our trip here turned out to be one of my most memorable travel experiences. Exploring the best tourist spots in Sorsogon and giving back to the community was enjoyable…

Truly one of Masbate's gem. Catandayagan Falls measures about 100 feet tall and its stream heads directly down to the sea.
I love relaxing activities so I was thrilled to experience the Buhatan River Cruise in Sorsogon. We sailed through the river for about an hour while enjoying local snacks like raw pili and listening to acoustic serenade.
Checking the pool at Vitton Beach Resort before our morning tour to see whale sharks in Donsol, Sorsogon. Managed to swim with two large whalesharks.
Hello there. :)

Back in Anawangin after several years! Nice to see that the resorts have improved and there are now cottages and rooms in addition to tents. Special thanks to @destinarebeach.ph for the fun stay. ❤️
