You guys know we’re a fan of Samgyupsalamat. For a sulit rate of P499, you can enjoy unlimited, high-quality meat and delicious side dishes. Moreover, Samgyupsalamat has numerous branches all over the metro so it’s easily available to us Filipinos.
Recently, I was invited to Samgyupsalamat in Bicutan. This restaurant had just re-opened last June 2019 following a renovation. Here’s our review of food experience at Samgyupsalamat – Bicutan!
Location and ambiance
Samgyupsalamat – Bicutan is located along Dona Soledad, a 5-10 min walking distance from SM Bicutan. It’s easily accessible especially if you’re comfortable walking. Otherwise you can take a tricycle from SM or bring a car — parking spaces are available.
What I like most about this branch is it’s spacious! Tables aren’t cramped together so you can have a more relaxed dining experience. It’s also less crowded so it’s easier to get a table compared to other branches where you have to queue for a while to get seated.
In Samgyupsalamat, you can enjoy 5 types of pork and 5 types of beef.
Options for pork:
- Daepae samgyeopsal (sliced fresh pork belly)
- Buljib samgyeopsal (herbed pork belly)
- Yangnyum daepae samgyeopsal (sliced pork belly with seasoning sauce)
- Gochujang samgyeopsal (sliced pork belly with sweet & spicy sauce)
- Yangnyum moksal (pork neck bone steak with sweet seasoning sauce)
Options for beef:
- Beef samgyeopsal (sliced beef short plate)
- Yangnyum beef samgyeopsal (sliced beef short plate with seasoning sauce)
- Beef bulgogi (Korean BBQ beef in sweet soy sauce)
- Gochujang beef samgyeopsal (sliced beef short plate with sweet & spicy sauce)
- Salsa beef (beef with sweet-style Filipino sauce)
There are also several side dishes including kimchi, pickled leeks, onions, fish cake, sweetened baby potatoes, japchae, tofu stew and steamed egg. There’s also fresh lettuce.
Cheese and gravy is provided as well.
For the drinks, there are pitchers of water and iced tea. Some samgyupsal restaurants only offer water, so having iced tea is a plus point for me.
We mainly gorged on plain beef and seasoned pork belly. I think you can’t get wrong with these two. Beef bulgogi and yangnyum (pork or beef) are also good options. The plain pork is tasteless in itself, but my friend Mikhaela of Kimchi Adventures says it’s supposed to be that way and the best way to enjoy it is to cook it like bacon — that is to say, cook until a bit crunchy.
The cheese dip is of course good. Samgyupsalamat has already proven itself as a top samgyupsal restaurant when it introduced its cheese dips and the rest followed.
For the side dishes, I liked the steamed egg and the marbled potatoes. The latter is a favorite in our table and we asked for a few refills of it.
At the end of our meal, we were so stuffed that we could barely stand up.
Overall, this is one of the better branches of Samgyupsalamat. It’s spacious and it’s located a few minutes from a mall, which means it’s accessible but not crowded. Service-wise, the staff easily attends the requests for refills. If you’re anywhere in Bicutan or Paranaque area, this is a good samgyupsal place to go.
