Punta Verde Resort (Lobo, Batangas): Romantic villas and infinity pool

Share this:

As March approaches, Hali and I were on the search for the best resorts for the summer. We spent 2 days in Punta Verde Resort in Lobo, Batangas. With charming old-style villas and an infinity pool with ocean view, it’s definitely one of the best resorts we’ve visited in Batangas! Read about our experience here and check out our travel guide to Punta Verde Resort below.

Our experience at Punta Verde Resort

You can’t talk about this resort without mentioning the route. It’s not for the faint hearted. We passed through a mountain with steep inclines (thanks, Waze) and then tackled the 45-minute mountain zigzag road in Lobo, Batangas. As of our visit (February 2019), the road going to the resort is rough, with steep turns requiring you to honk before moving forward. Our consolation was the ocean views while driving, which was amazing.

We passed through Lover’s Lane Park and then it’s just a few more minutes before we reached a resort. Hooray!

We logged in the registration area and a staff directed us to our room.

We were booked for the Ilang-Ilang Hut, a deluxe 4-person room. My heart jumped of joy seeing how spacious and charming our room is! There’s a king-sized bed, a sofa bed and a wide glass door that leads to a veranda. We also have an en suite toilet with heater and of course the whole room is airconditioned.

Here are some tiny details that I like about our room. We were provided 2 towels each — a room towel and beach towel. I find that very convenient. The door to the veranda has this tiny colored windows, reminiscent of those in old churches, and white flowy curtains that are just perfect for a delicate, romantic vibe.

We rested for a bit after the long drive. Afterwards, we checked out the beach.

From our room, we passed across a hanging bridge and then down flights of stairs to reach the beach. It was probably a hundred steps down. Like other beaches in Malabrigo, the beachfront in Punta Verde Resort a pebble beach. We really don’t mind pebble beaches and the water here was refreshing. I actually wanted to swim, but we didn’t bring any water and going back up was tiring enough.

I was already shaking a bit when we got back so we had merienda in the restaurant facing the infinity pool. We ordered halo-halo each, and for P90 it wasn’t bad! The sugar also gave me that extra energy boost.

Finally, it was time for us to enjoy the infinity pool! As you probably already know, it has a great ocean view. We also appreciate that the water was warm. Nothing kills a mood to swim more than chilling water.

We spent an hour or two in the pool. It was very nice and relaxing, with the deep-blue ocean in the background. We took a million photos too.

For dinner, we had pre-ordered one of their set meals. I’ve read some blogs saying that food here in Punta Verde Resort is expensive, but I digress: considering all things (quality, taste and serving plus the fact that there are no nearby markets here) the rates are reasonable.

Here’s our set meal (P700): sinampalukang manok, inihaw na tilapia, squash okoy and rice. Hali also had lomi (P90) because it’s Batangas, right.

The food was so good! The tilapia was fresh and grilled to perfection. The sinampalukang manok had a sour-spicy broth, which was delicious (it reminded me of the one I had in Bulacan). The squash okoy refreshed our palate. I asked Hali for spoonfuls of the lomi, and it was warm and flavorful — this is coming from a person who wasn’t into lomis.

The set is accordingly good for 2, but it can easily feed 3 people.

We were in a food coma afterwards. Hali decided to stargaze and shoot the night sky by the poolside, and then we went back to our small home to rest.

In the morning, we had our breakfast at the alfresco dining area again. Breakfast is complimentary when you book overnight. It was nice having coffee with the view of the infinity pool and the ocean.

Before leaving, we had another swim at the pool. Hali and I did our usual “How was this trip?” talk. We both agreed that we are both lucky to have discovered and stayed here overnight. (Tip: Go here on weekdays to take pictures in the infinity pool without other people!)

Thank you, Punta Verde Resort. This is definitely one of the best resorts in Batangas we’d been to.
