Stopover at Mountain Brew Coffee Shop
We were on the Nasugbu-Ternate highway on our way to Bituin Cove in Nasugbu, Batangas when we spotted this coffee shop. It stroke us as odd because this was literally in the middle of nowhere. The signage was current and reads Mountain Brew Coffee Shop. We didn’t have time to stop then, but we made plans to visit it on our way back.
Mountain Brew Coffee Shop
Mountain Brew Coffee Shop is small and stylish. There are only several tables inside, and lots of small ones for couples. We’ve read that it’s a favorite layover among road trippers and motorcyclists going this route and that both the coffee and the accompanying view are great.
We got a table for 2. From where we were seated, we could see a forested hillside and a coastline in the distance. I learned later on that it overlooks Manila Bay and the islands of Corregidor and Bataan.

The coffee shop sells pastries, sandwiches and pastas, with various types of coffee (including civet coffee) and other cold beverages. We ordered their All Day Breakfast (P210) and carbonara (P95), along with iced caramel macchiato (P100) and hot mocha peppermint (P100). We also ordered an oatmeal cookie because I read about people recommending it online.

All our food was served within 5-10 minutes, which impressed us.
The All Day Breakfast was well done and we enjoyed it both. The toasted bread comes with jam and butter. The carbonara is good as well, and in fact it’s better than most cheap carbonara sold by other restaurants. I just wished they’d already mixed in the sauce because the plate was too small for proper mixing. Oh, and more mushrooms. The pasta is served with a slice of garlic bread, which was flavorful as well.
I also love the mocha peppermint — it’s delicious and it’s not too sweet unlike that served in popular coffee shops. We dipped the oatmeal cookie in it.

Overall, we were satisfied with the food. The prices are similar, if not cheaper, with other coffee shops and given its unique location and ambiance we think it’s perfectly reasonable.
