We received a Liebster Award 2017!

Liebster Award 2017
Share this:

Hi, lovely people! Last December, I was nominated by Stephanie of Stephanie Cox – Newcastle & Travel for a Liebster Award. A Liebster Award is an online-only award passed on from blogger to blogger. Basically, it’s a way of giving recognition to your favorite blog(s) and remarkable up-and-coming blogs. It’s also a great way to make new friends in the blogging community!

I’m generously thanking Stephanie for this nomination. She has a gorgeous travel website, and currently she’s been to various parts of Europe and the USA.

I’m now passing this Liebster Award 2017 on to other bloggers. But before that, let’s get on with these questions.

Here are the questions I’ve been asked

Where was your first ever trip abroad?

The first one was in 2008. I visited my sister for 2 weeks in Singapore. I cried after 3 days and asked her to re-book my flight home to a much earlier date. I was still in college and crazy in love with my first boyfriend that it hurt to be away that long.

(Nonetheless, I did enjoy the shopping experience in Singapore.)

Is there anywhere that you could go back to again and again and never get bored of?

I hope I can give a specific answer, but whenever I’ve crossed off a place in the map I don’t get that itch to go back. I feel like I’m just fleeting by. I always say, “I’m going back here,” but it never happens. I haven’t found that one place yet I’m not gonna tire of, except maybe home.

Besides, tourism in the Philippines has just started to grow, especially among middle-class Filipinos. A one year can do so much change to a place. For instance, if I go back to Jomalig Island now, instead of an empty shore of beautiful sands and agoho trees, I will be greeted by a huge J.O.M.A.L.I.G. signboard erected at the beach, resorts and accommodations and possibly groups of rowdy backpackers during summer. It’s never going back to a familiar place.

Where is the strangest place you have been?

Possibly, del Carmen in Siargao. It’s strange in the sense that it’s serene and beautiful — with low islands surrounded by green sea, but also that during our stay there my friends kept having eerie feelings. After our trip back home, there was an exchange of supernatural stories.

Where is the most luxurious place you’ve been?

I kinda feel bad about not giving a good answer to this one, but you see I’m a budget traveler. I also switched jobs and recently had just started my stint in software engineering, so my finances weren’t always in the best of state.

But to name one — Pico de Loro Beach Club in Batangas? Hah.

If you had to plan a day for someone visiting your home what would you suggest?

For anyone visiting the Philippines, the first place I would recommend is Palawan, specifically Coron. I love everything about it, the amazing sights and how tourism has been kept in check to preserve the natural spots. I also recommend going to Sorsogon — definitely one of my favorite provinces here in the country.

Is there anywhere you don’t want to visit?

Aside from North Korea? Kidding. Okay, so this might be controversial but currently I’m reluctant to visit India. I know its has lots of cultural sights and great food, but it’s awful how women get treated in their culture.

I’m also not very keen on going to deserts. It’s already hot and humid here in the Philippines as it is. I can’t imagine staying in a place where it’s even hotter.

Where in the world is your favorite sunset?

Sunsets are beautiful everywhere.

What is on your travel list for 2017?

We’re booked for Surigao, Batanes and Tacloban (all Philippine destinations). I also have tentative plans for Camiguin Norte in Cagayan (Anybody who wants to come along?) and a 2-week-long vacation in Luzon and Visayas. Keeping mum about our other plans… Watch out for it! 🙂

(Update: the list was actually long, but the rest didn’t follow through with  passing the Liebster Award and the point exactly is to pass the recognition to other bloggers you think are deserving, so I removed the other entries.)

When in My Journeys – A travel blog by Ricci Paul, an amateur photographer based in Cavite who currently works full-time in a cruise ship. He features not only destinations but also history, culture and people.

Congratulations! Here are my questions:

  1. What is your favorite destination in the world?
  2. Name a destination that’s underrated but you think should be visited more.
  3. Name a destination that you think is over-hyped, if any.
  4. How would you describe yourself as a traveler? Are you into backpacking, more comfortable/luxury travel, etc.?
  5. What’s one important travel tip you learned and would like to share to others?
  6. How do you find travel blogging so far?
  7. What are your plans this 2017?

Remember to write about accepting the Liebster Award in your blog  and give us your answers to the questions above. 🙂

Again, congratulations!
