There’s so much to say about Black Sheep Coffee: it’s cool, it’s badass, it’s coffee counterculture.
When I got inside this cafe, I was blown away by the details inside. There’s the usual coffee bar with pastry display, but there’s also a corner for a liquor bar. The interior has a high-end grunge feel, with wood and polished brass, art murals on the walls, and interesting displays such as a coffee filter tower and projector screen that likes like an actual tv.
Black Sheep Coffee in Conrad S Maison in Pasay City (inside Mall of Asia complex) is a franchise store from London, UK. The concept is that it functions as a cafe during day time and a bar at night. It offers specialty coffee made from beans that originate from India, Ethiopia, Papua New Guinea, and Peru.
It was still early when I got here, so I skipped the alcoholic drinks and opted for a good cup of mocha.
Black Sheep Coffee also offers milk teas. Okinawa is particularly good; this is probably the first time that I actually enjoyed this flavor and it was an instant fave. The matcha variant is for those who appreciate the strong, slightly bitter taste of authentic matcha. It reminded me of matcha packets I used to buy when I was still living in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the yakult variant is for those who enjoy a creamy/fruity taste. I think it’s geared towards the younger crowd.
Aside from cookies, cakes, and pastries, Black Coffee can also prepare meals for you.
Our group had selected dishes. Beef lasagna was sufficiently cheesy and meaty. The tuna sandwich was okay, it comes with thin crispy potato chips that I find addicting. The salmon sisig packs a lot of flavor in a plate. Finally, there’s honey sriracha chicken wings which is tender and flavorful.
There’s a lot of reasons to visit the Black Sheep Coffee. The ambiance alone is a reason in its own right. Their menu is certainly above average: make sure to try one of their specialty coffee or chill with a glass from their liquor selection.
For those like me who like to find a quiet place to work, this is a good option especially since they offer everything necessary to get things done: coffee, snacks or full meals, and fast unlimited-use wifi. Black Sheep Coffee also holds acoustic nights and special events such as Comedy Session and Street Magician.
