The coffee shop has a really nice interior with modern, industrial look. There are comfortable couches and chairs, as well as bar stools. There are plugs available so you can bring your laptop here or even hold private meetings.

Menu

Alch3mist Coffee Shop offers different types of specialty coffee.

You can order espresso (with or without milk) or latte. I had espresso with milk which was really good — the flavor was strong and it’s definitely on the top list of espressos I’ve tried.

I also tried cold latte. I liked this best because it’s creamier and it went better with our food. There’s also a small baby latte version called piccolo latte, served in a small glass.

We also tried their filter coffees. There’s Ethiopia Gedeb, Philippines Sitio Naguey and Philippines Sitio Belis. If you’re a coffee aficionado, you’ll appreciate the smell and flavor in each beans. For instance, the Naguey has notes of lavender, sun-dried raisins and strawberries in chocolate fondue.

Their barrista explained that, for them, it takes training to be able to detect these flavors. As such, sourcing coffee beans is also an important factor because the higher the elevation of the coffee plants are, the fruitier the taste. Aside from the coffee beans, they also choose the best ingredients for the coffee — for the milk, they use an Australian brand brought directly from a supplier. Coffee is truly an art in itself.

To be honest, I couldn’t tell the notes from the filter coffees. However, with my pedestrian taste, I liked all the filter coffees especially the Ethiopia Gedeb.

For reference, here is their coffee menu:

Coffee drinks:

  • Espresso: P100 (DMT) / P110 (Purplehaze)
  • Espresso with water: P100 (DMT) / P110 (Purplehaze)
  • Espresso with milk: P140 (DMT) / P150 (Purplehaze)
  • Cafe mocha: P170 (DMT) / P180 (Purplehaze)

Filter coffees:

  • Ethiopia Gedeb: P140
  • Ethopia Guji: P140
  • Nicaragua Cafetos de Segovia: P140
  • Philippines Sitio Naguey: P180
  • Philippines Sitio Belis: P180
  • Philippines Nigo: P180

Alch3mist Coffee Shop also serves food so you can have a complete meal here.

The Asian Salad (P250) has bites of sweet fruits.

For sandwiches, you can try the Cuban Press (P295) which comes with potato chips. The chips were thin, crunchy and sufficiently salty and the chicken sandwiches were so good — this is one of the best pressed sandwiches I’ve had. For its price, it’s definitely a steal. There’s also a pork version, but it’s a bit dry.

The Beef Tapa (P250) has flavorful pieces of tapa, sunny side up and sweet mango bits. It’s my first time to eat tapa with mangoes and I didn’t know that the sweetness complements the rice meal well.

The Umami Chicken (P250) has a nice pepper taste which everyone in the group liked. It comes with a cheesy dip. It’s also sulit for its price because it can be shared among 2-3 people.

For dessert, they have Banana Chocolate Hazelnut Waffle (P250). The waffle is fluffy and crunchy outside and this dessert is delicious. If you know me, you’ll know that I’m not a fan of sweet food, and this one just hit the right mark. It’s also good for sharing.
